Welcome to Nassau-Shatford Baseball
Nassau-Shatford Baseball was established in January of 2020, combining two leagues from Rensselaer and Columbia counties - Nassau Baseball Association and Shatford Youth Baseball. Both leagues have a rich history in their respective communities and we plan to honor and continue the long-standing traditions established by these leagues while providing more opportunities for children in these rural communities.
Registration for Nassau-Shatford Baseball is open to children ages 3.5-12 of all skill levels in Rensselaer and Columbia counties (except Troy residents). One of our goals is to make youth baseball affordable and enjoyable for all families, as such, we have some of the lowest registration fees in the Capital District and plan to keep it that way thanks to our community, volunteers, and local business owners!
The Nassau field, located on John St. in the Village of Nassau, was completely renovated before the start of the 2016 season thanks to the Tri City Valley Cats and their 4 in 24 program. We now have not only a safe field, but a professionally graded and manicured field that will provide a backdrop to some fantastic youth baseball for years to come. The Shatford fields, located on Rt 22 in New Lebanon, are part of Shatford Town Park. There are multiple fields at this park that provide age-appropriate sized playing fields for each division of play. The Shatford Majors field was also fully renovated by the Valley Cats in 2020. By combining the leagues, we have access to multiple fields which will allow us to expand our services.
For Minors/Majors, games and practices will be played equally in Nassau and New Lebanon. At the tee-ball level, most games and practices will be held at the chosen "home" field, but there may be some cross-town play depending on the number of teams. Please note that while preference for "home" field will be taken into account, players may need to be moved to create fair and balanced teams for a positive playing experience for all involved.
Les Hanson Play Ball Fund
Nassau-Shatford Baseball is pleased to offer the Les Hanson Play Ball Fund. As one of the original founders of the Nassau Baseball Association, Mr. Hanson's goal was to bring the sport he loved to his community. With generous donations in his name, we can carry on his legacy. This fund will allow the children of our community who otherwise would not be able to play baseball the opportunity to play the sport that Mr. Hanson loved. If you are unable to pay the registration fees for baseball, please apply for the Les Hanson Play Ball Scholarship Fund. If you'd like to contribute to the fund, please send a check payable to Nassau Baseball Association, PO Box 293, Nassau, NY 12123, and in the memo section indicate "Les Hanson Fund" - any amount is appreciated.
